The new ramp along 295 South just above the Al-Jo curve has been widened and the Jersey barriers have been moved over to get ready for the opening of the new lanes.

 

This is where the new ramp will split to become the new ramp to 76 West. Most of the paving is done and the noise barrier installation is under way. Eventually all traffic will go down this ramp which will split to go to both 42 South and 76 West, but the 42 South portion will not happen for a few more years.

 

Here is a look at the new ramp from the existing 76 West ramp.

 

Installation of the steel for the new 76 East to 295 North ramp is proceeding. The first pieces that are partially over 76 have been installed.

 

 

 

Bellmawr Park Mutual Housing

As part of the next phase of the direct connect project 12 units of Bellmawr Park Mutual Housing will need to be relocated to make way for the new ramp from 76 east to 295 south.  The map below shows where the units will be relocated to, 6 units will go into each location.  This article has more information including the plans for each area.

Browning Road Re-construction

Bids recently closed on the third contract for the direct connect project and work should begin on this contract in the next few months. One of the major parts of this phase will be the re-construction of the Browning Road overpass over 42 to widen the space under the bridge. This will be done by first building a temporary bridge just north of the existing one. The old bridge will be torn down and reconstructed and finally the temporary bridge will be removed. To accommodate this work there will also be a small re-alignment of Willow Place.
