Creek Road Overpass

As part of the Missing Moves project, 295 will need to be widened to accommodate the new lanes that will connect to the new ramps. This widening will require the widening of the area under Creek Road. Here are the plans for the Creek Road overpass. The blue lines show the edges of the existing overpass. The new overpass will move a short distance north but will still partially overlap the existing bridge. I don’t know the exact sequence of construction, but I assume the new portion of the overpass will be built first, all the traffic moved onto the new section, then the old overpass can be demolished, and the remainder of the new overpass completed.

Missing Moves June 2020

Some demolition work has been done along the bridge over Big TImber Creek. The area between the north and south bound lanes of 295 has been cleared and they have started to demo the guard rails.

A lot of equipment has been setup in this area including a large crane. The will be widening the bridges on both the north and south bound sides.

Pilings are being put in along 295 South just above Creek road. These likely be where the supports for the new overpass ramp will go.

June 2020 Missing Moves

Here are a couple pictures taken from Creek Road overpass.

This is the staging yard and construction going on along 295 South just above Creek Road.

Work going on off of Harding Ave. I believe this is where some of the overpass supports will go.

Work going on in between 42 and Benigno Ave. In this first picture you can see the rough outline for where the ramp to 42 will go. This one will replace the current one off of Leaf Ave.

June 2020 Missing Moves/Delsea Drive

This new sign structure has been installed which was part of the Delsea Drive overpass rebuild project.

IMG_20200603_192112

A lane shift has been put in place on 295 North where it passes over Big Timber Creek. The lanes all shift to the right onto the shoulder.

The temporary poles I saw last week have had lights installed on them.

May 2020–Missing Moves

Work on the Missing Moves project is ramping up (excuse the pun) in several areas.

Work going on just south of the Creek Road overpass.

Rumble strips along the edge of 295 have been removed, probably in preparation for lane shifts.

Temporary poles have been put in for lights and signs.

Work continues along 295 South just north of the Creek Road overpass.

A pile driver is at work in the construction staging yard off of Harding Ave. This is probably for one of the over pass supports.

Piles driven in an area off of Coolidge Road, again probably for overpass supports.

There is also a lot of land clearing going on along 295 North near Leaf Ave. I didn’t get pictures of that.

May 2020–Direct connect

There continues to only be small pieces of work on the Direct Connect project. A week or so ago I saw this work happening around one of the pits that will eventually be the foundation for one of the overpass supports.IMG_20200522_125521

The biggest change I saw this week is that the approach  to where the temporary Browning Road overpass will be has been paved. This is on the church side of the bridge.

There was a good article published over at constructionequipmentguide.com that talks about the various phases of the project with some background on each of the contractors.
